This walking route (approximately 5 kilometres<\/strong>) has been specially designed for both ocean cruise and river cruise passengers<\/strong>. Visitors arriving in Rotterdam by river cruise can join the route at multiple points<\/strong>, such as the Erasmus Bridge, Leuvehaven, the Old Harbour, the Markthal, or in the city centre near the Coolsingel. The route is flexible and can easily be walked in sections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The full route starts at the Cruise Terminal at Kop van Zuid<\/strong>, where you are immediately surrounded by striking modern architecture and beautiful views over the River Maas. From here, you walk towards Loods 24<\/strong>, a poignant memorial site that recalls the Jewish history of Rotterdam and the deportations during the Second World War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After visiting Loods 24, the walk continues across the Hefbrug<\/a><\/strong> (former railway lifting bridge), an impressive industrial monument that once connected the south of Rotterdam with the city centre. Today, the bridge offers unique views of the river and the surrounding harbour area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The route then leads to Noordereiland<\/strong>, where you can take a short break at the Wilhelmina Fountain<\/strong>. This historic island offers charming streets and fine views of the city skyline. You then continue across the iconic Willems Bridge<\/strong>, enjoying panoramic views over the river.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other side, you arrive at the Spaansekade<\/strong> in the Old Harbour<\/strong>, one of the oldest harbour areas of Rotterdam, known for its historic ships, caf\u00e9s, and terraces. At the end of the Coolsingel, you reach Plein 1940<\/strong>, home to the monument The Destroyed City<\/em>, commemorating the bombing of Rotterdam in 1940.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
